Blog 21 busy busy :)

Welcome TS bloggers to another catch up with whats going on at Tarax Stud, as usual its late but i think you all know by now that's probably not going to change much lol :)

Our Boarding area was finally finished and we has a few boarders straight away in the new area

At the moment we cannot put boarders out on the lawn all the time due to the 2 dogs being terriers and end up working themselves silly...then we have to put them away. However in June we will of solved this problem by getting 2 new pets :)

We will be having 2 pygmy goats arriving in June so the idea is that we build a corral across the bottom of the garden for the goats but it will also stop the dogs from getting to the small animals in the runs dotted about :) The 2 goats we are getting are called Flower and Petal and are gorgeous lol so will make lovely additions to the household :)
Rabbit wise we have had a few matings take place, 2 litters of Glavcots caused an explosion of 12 lol

Whats really handy is that my main Glavcot buck died a week after the mating very unexpectedly so at least we have something from him to carry on with which was our main worry :) unfortunately we have no stock ready to show for a few months as the breeding programme is quite tight...on a good note the Siberians are doing well one litter having 5 which was a Meakins/Tarax mating the next pairing was a Meakins brown to a Tarax Lilac so so 4 lilac carriers in the nest now.

We were then lucky enough to get another BiS with one of the browns which we showed at the Essex Champs, it was a Rosette Show and admittedly almost all the stock was moulting but i was very impressed with the judge Daren Morris who took the time to to go through the standard properly. Below you can see Mr Morris judging, Claudio Succi was stewarding and doing the book while i just stewarded :)

The last bit of news is with the various genetic programmes we are running...or should i say Kim is running as once anyone says big A little b i get this glazed look come over me lol, anyway the argente programme and the silver Glav programme are on hold as the Lutinos have taken over :)

The top 2 pic's are of Agrat our shadow doe who we mated up to Tumeric our Choc tort buck which produced orange, black and agouti, our pink eyed carrying doe i mated to the wrong buck (another chock tort) so because we did not know which of the 4 black or 2 sootys could of carried the pink eyed gene were passed on as pets :( we then mated our 2 lutino bucks; Balor (pic3) to Saffron a very tiny choc tort doe which produced 3 sooty's and Baal (pic4) was mated to India another choc tort doe of ours producing another 3 sooty's. Talking To Marianne who we got our original Lutino lop line from in Denmark, she said this would be quite common as this is the colour they are known for in Denmark as well :) This second round of litters have come out quite stunning and at 3 weeks are exceedingly well marked and of good colour as can be seen in the pic's below.

So now we wait for these lovelies to reach the age where we can mate them up...a few months yet but looking forward to it :) so thats it for April...we have some new additions to the stud which i will put in Mays blog :) and will let you know of our next round of matings to coincide with another project...but your all going to have to wait until then lol so laters my friends.
