extra animals boarding with us over the Christmas holidays....various rabbits and guinea pigs meant it was busier than usual lol, i must admit i did not realise it would be so busy but it made sense as people like to visit family :)
We did have two amazing bits of news around the same time which is a lot more Tarax Stud related though ;) the first was a show we had entered at the beginning of December over in Kent. It was a double 2* show (2 clubs showing) and we entered our Siberians and Glavcots. There were over 250 rabbits entered with some amazing rabbits on show, my favourite being an absolutely fantastic blue English which got BiS on the North Kent Fanciers...the most amazing thing for us which we got BiS in the other show (Medway Town) with a Golden Glavcot :)
This is Victor who attended his first show and to say we are chuffed is an understatement lol....not only the fact that a rare breed got a BiS in an open show but its the very first time a Glavcot has won as well :) i have to say i missed all the judging on that side of the hall as i was to busy chatting or stewarding the North Kent table lol. The icing on the cake was a month later when our Fur and Feather magazine came through the post and Victor was on the front page :)
Our other 'rabbity' bit of news was the addition of two brand new arrivals from Denmark...another 2 lutino lops :) but these 2 are a little different and although they are a colour that has started to crop up; but are unfortunately not a colour that is recognised as a show colour...yet and that is the Dove :)
This is basically a black to black mating with both parents carrying the pp gene, what we get is the black stripped out giving us an almost lilac...or dove colour instead
In the picture above you can see a Dove compared to a standard Lutino, then again in the picture below but with a Lutino Shadow :)
We are not pushing through with this colour to be standardised due to there being no European standard for this colour yet but it may be something we will push ahead with once the Lutino and Shadow get recognised :) As to the colours being excepted, we still have not heard anything from the BRC to say if we will get a breed colours certificate yet so fingers are still crossed lol.
Anyway apart from that there is nothing else to let you all know about....we do have a show in February coming up with the Elliott ladies judging so we are looking foward to that so I will finish here and report back soon with a new blog ;) TC
