Blog 20 Spring has sprung

Well finally a ray of sunshine peaks through this weekend and boy has it had an effect on the rabbitry lol :) welcome back to all our followers....I'm hoping no one has realised that the blog has not been brought up to date these last few months....I have a ton of excuses...but basically I got side tracked with other things...sorry people :(
Considering it has been a while, not to much has happened in the shed since Christmas; January although wet and windy was quiet, we didn't get to go to The Bradford due to Kim's eldest being unwell....and we had nothing to show if we were being honest....but we did miss seeing everyone :(
February brought about some sad news when we heard that a fellow Siberian breeder had died, his niece, a lovely lady called Sarah, was in a slight panic as she had 25 brown Siberians urgently needing homes the call went out on the Siberian facebook page and almost all have now gone :) to help the situation we took 6 rabbits in total (initially went up to only take 4 lol) and they are a credit to Gordon Meakins as they are certainly bold rabbits, not only in type but personality as well lol

The surprise with these was that one of the girls gave birth 27 days later to 2 kits which is an obvious bonus lol, anyway they have settled in but a couple of them do have attitude lol.
Around the same time our other surprise turned up :) as previously mentioned in past blogs , we have started a lutino programme with some Netherland dwarfs...however a lovely mum and daughter contacted us from Denmark asking would we be interested in lutino lops....well what could we say :) I have to thank some lovely people who helped bring them over for me (thank you Tor and Derek) although sitting in a lay-by with suspicious looking characters putting things in boxes would i thought have warranted a police check lol

The top one is a shadow doe, the other 2 are lutino bucks, whilst the black one below is a lutino carrying doe :) the weight on these are surprisingly lighter than i expected, coats are fantastic almost like our Siberians head needs working on to bring it to the UK style mini lop but other wise a fantastic start to our programme.
Both does had been mated once they had rested from there travelling and we are pleased to say both have had good litters the shadow Agrat had 5 and the black doe Aila had 6 :) Aila will be mated again as i did the wrong mating lol but we will still assess the kits as they get older.

The weather brought a few worries for us this month, we lost power to the shed for nearly 2 weeks which for kim was not fun...and some trees did come down from next doors garden but luckily for us they missed our shed....the nearest was about 10 feet away (phew) 5 trees came down in total that night.

Show wise we went to a couple of Kent shows this month, which was really nice, the usual mob were about

Pleased for our friend Julie whose REW lionlops are doing very well (no i still don't want one!!) :)
The only other thing is the last of the new hutches have turned up for the boarding area...just in the process of painting them before we take the last of the old hutches out :)

So that's it for now, we do have kits in the shed but i will save photos etc for the next blog :) so until then bloggers tc .
